States of Being
Center for Coaching & Leading
Founding Director, Linda Belans, Ed.D.

States of Being is a strengths-based philosophical approach to coaching – anchored in belonging, benevolence, and seeing the higher self – embodied in a practice that cascades from senior leaders to the youngest student.
We coach and lead to the belief and practice that all members of our community feel seen, have the right to embrace their identity, and to participate freely, fully, safely, and creatively toward becoming their highest selves. We engage States of Being to create these conditions amid the tension between urgency and humanity, achieving and belonging, and the challenging landscape of structured racism.
We draw on States of Being for all aspects of our work as we coach, teach, facilitate meetings and professional development, and engage with our stakeholders. These adaptive States are essential partners to our technical leadership skills. By embodying States of Being, we build trust, ownership, and foster transformation within ourselves and our extended community.
